Description[]

What if Ranma stood to gain an inheritance?[2]
Nabiki does some research on Ranma just after he arrives. Interesting seems like he's in like to inherit 30% of Shogokukan! Maybe pawning him off on Akane was a bad idea![3]

Plot[]

As part of his turn at the infamous Bet, Tyr causes a single minor change that snowballs; an irregularity in one woman's cycle.

Flash to the arrival of the Saotomes at the Tendo Dojo. Moments after Akane Tendo has knocked Ranma Saotome unconscious with the table for insulting her figure, Nabiki Tendo receives a telephone call from one of her information gatherers, Fujitsu. He informs her that, through his mother, and specifically his maternal uncle, Ranma is now the heir incumbent to a 30% share in Shogokukan, one of the biggest publication companies in Japan. Once he hangs up, Nabiki starts beating herself up for being so quick to give a good-looking guy who is also going to be stinking rich to Akane. Then she thinks a moment and she realizes that she can potentially salvage this.

When Ranma regains consciousness, Nabiki is there, acting in a much more welcoming manner. When a puzzled Ranma leaves to take a bath and return to his human form, Kasumi Tendo questions the change in attitude, with Nabiki defending that she was freaked out by the curse, but now that she's had a chance to acclimatise, Ranma really isn't a bad potential fiancé at all. When Akane slaps Ranma for walking in on her, Nabiki seizes the golden opportunity with both hands, and arranges to have the engagement switched to herself (after getting a "consulting fee" of 500 yen first) by playing on the blatantly evident distaste Ranma and Akane have for each other.

Skip to several months later. It's noted that Ranma and Nabiki have been doing fairly well, but the relationship is complicated, mostly by the arrival of Nabiki's rival for Ranma's hand, Shampoo. It settles during the Love Pill Bracelet incident; just as in the canon timeline, Shampoo tries to dose Ranma with a Love Pill, but misses, causing it to ricochet into the mouth of Ranma's Tendo fiancée instead. Initially, Nabiki catches the pill in her mouth instead of swallowing it, and her outburst of physical affection is just feigned. Then she trips on the sand and swallows it for real, causing her to fall head over heels in love with Ranma. Genma Saotome and Soun Tendo immediately decide to take advantage of the situation by grabbing a priest and having Ranma and Nabiki wed. Shampoo tries to stop it, but Nabiki adeptly outmaneuvers her by bribing Tatewaki Kuno, Ryoga Hibiki, and Happosai to defend the ceremony. Thus, Ranma and Nabiki are officially wed, whilst Shampoo gets engaged to Ryoga, due to the latter knocking her out when she tries and fails to break through to stop the ceremony.´

Skip to years later, where Nabiki finishes telling her son Isao about how his parents were wed. She notes that Ryoga and Shampoo got engaged, and Tatewaki Kuno continued pursuing girls, eventually shifting from Akane and "the pigtailed girl" to Ukyo Kuonji, then to someone called Kotono Mitsubishi, and then she trails off, noting he's probably still looking for love to this day. But the story of how Isao's auntie Akane to her husband Sanjuro is, she firmly insists, a story for another day, as it's bedtime now.
