Welcome! Edit

Hi Gallicus -- we're excited to have Ranma 1/2 Fan Fiction Wiki as part of the Wikia community!

Now you've got a whole website to fill up with information, pictures and videos about your favorite topic. But right now, it's just blank pages staring at you... Scary, right? Here are some ways to get started.

  • Introduce your topic on the front page. This is your opportunity to explain to your readers what your topic is all about. Write as much as you want! Your description can link off to all the important pages on your site.
  • Start some new pages -- just a sentence or two is fine to get started. Don't let the blank page stare you down! A wiki is all about adding and changing things as you go along. You can also add pictures and videos, to fill out the page and make it more interesting.

And then just keep going! People like visiting wikis when there's lots of stuff to read and look at, so keep adding stuff, and you'll attract readers and editors. There's a lot to do, but don't worry -- today's your first day, and you've got plenty of time. Every wiki starts the same way -- a little bit at a time, starting with the first few pages, until it grows into a huge, busy site.

If you've got questions, you can e-mail us through our contact form. Have fun!

Create Page popupEdit

Hi there! You were very passionate on the Central blog about not wanting the new Create Page popup. I'm working on building a preference so that people can turn it off individually, but I'm not sure when that's going to be done. So for now, I turned off the feature on this wiki. We're trying to build things for new people, but it's also important not to punish the contributors who have made 7,000+ edits and counting...

So I hope that makes the situation better. I can turn the feature back on, once we've got a preference that allows you to turn it off individually. Let me know if there's anything else you need! -- Danny@fandom (talk) 15:38, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

Multiple Stories with the Same Title Edit

We now have two stories titled Waking Up. One by Gary Kleppe and one by MZephyr. How should we deal with this? Should we have a disambiguation page? Should we rename the stories as Waking Up (Kleppe) and Waking Up (MZephyr)?

Mknopp 15:02, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Story Infobox Edit

Hope you didn't mind me making the infobox for the stories.

Also, what is the policy for spoiler information on the site? Is it pretty much assumed that if you are coming here that you should expect to see spoilers? I ask because for some stories outlining a plot will spoil a driving surprise/joke. MZephyr's War Cry comes to mind, as does Trent O'Donoghue's Akane's Bad Day.

Also, I personally want to know the relationships of most stories before I spend time on a story. To that end, unless you are adamantly opposed I will try to list all relationships in a story, both romantic and friendship. I will also try to note if they are central to the story or ancillary.

Let me know how you want to handle these.

Ad free Edit

Hi! Would you like this wiki to be ad-free? I'm looking for wikis to be part of a new program which would remove all ads from the wiki for $19.95/month.

If you are interested, please be visit here to sign up. Let me know if you have any questions! - sannse@fandom (help forum | blog) 05:49, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Gallicus,Edit

This is a really cool Wiki you've started here. Hope to see it grow! I am slapping a link on my site, though that's not going to help you much. I get about 5 hits a day and I think four of those are me. Regardless, if I see anything that I can edit and help with, I will.

Mediafire/Multiple format Rar archive links Edit

Yeah, left you a message on Fukufics (same frice2000) but I was the one (forgot to log in) who uploaded those RAR files. I don't quite understand why you took them down was just trying to contribute.

ReplyEdit

I not knocking an interest in contributing, but the links were simply to file hosting site and not to either individual writer pages, mailing list/group archives, or fanfiction archives. That you want to share copies is fine but not the purpose of the wikia.Gallicus 00:42, April 9, 2011 (UTC)

oooh thank you for helping me edit it! Edit

oooh thank you for helping me edit it! it was so hard at first.. but i got used to it... thank you!!!!! for making it easier! :D

TheGrum's mirror site Edit

I'm a wiki-editing noob, so I apologise if I'm going about this the wrong way.

You [altered one of my edits] on the Howard C. Shaw author page. I've been in contact with Howard about his old fics recently. He uploaded his current version of the thegrum.com site and sent me the link several hours ago. I added the link to the page as a "complete mirror of thegrum.com". I still understand it to be the case that it is complete.

What leads you to believe that is only "a partial mirror of TheGrum's fics"? I've clicked around on the new site and it seems complete to me.

Captain Yak 02:42, October 18, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing out the broken link. I'll let Howard know. To be fair though, Unexpected Power appears to be a Harry Potter fic and not a Ranme one, which is why it isn't listed on TheGrum's wikia page here. The links to the chapter listings of the rest of the fics, including all Ranma ones, are okay.
Is it alright if I revert your edit once the Unexpected Power link is fixed?

Character section on fanfic article pages? Edit

Hello,

There are 2 fanfics that I read some time ago (Fall of the Eagle and Ranma ½ -Ranko ½: Marital Arts) that do not yet have articles here and I am interested in writing the articles for both. However I was wondering if there are any style or layout guides for this wiki, as I haven't come across any. While I can get an idea of how writer and fic pages are laid out by looking at the pages, I haven't seen something like a separate Character section on a fic article yet and I wanted to run this idea by you first to see if it would be alright to add such a section. It would be especially helpful with articles dealing with both of these stories, as they are both set in alternate universes and feature significant changes to the characters. What I have in mind is that such a section is only added in the event that new characters are added or existing characters from canon are as I mentioned, significantly changed in the context of the fic in question.

E.g. for Fall of the Eagle, the characters retain their names but are of different nationalities:

Americans

  • 2nd Lieutenant Ryouga Hibiki, 3rd Squadron, 4th Platoon commander
  • 2nd Lieutenant Toufuu Ono, B-17 navigator
  • Lieutenant Ranma Saotome

Germans

  • Major Hikaru Gosunkugi
  • Colonel Kodachi Kunou, 43rd SS Special Air Group commander
  • General Tatewaki Kunou, 4th Division commander
  • Colonel Nabiki Tendo

Russians

  • Cologne, 5th Militia commander
  • Corporal J. Muslietnosov, "Mousse"
  • Corporal J. Shyanletsova, "Shampoo"

And so on. Thanks. BrokenSphere (Talk) 23:45, December 14, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing out that example. In the case of Ranma ½ -Ranko ½ the characters are presented as being polyamorous (male/male action is the only thing missing), but there are primary romantic relationships that develop. I understand what you mean about being torn between creating entries and going back and filling in those entries - it's a common situation I find myself in with the other 2 wikis that I'm active with.
This is another question, since I noticed that you deleted the forum, otherwise I would have asked it there. For stories with parts or chapters, would all the info be centralized in one article vs. creating separate entries for each part? BrokenSphere (Talk) 05:50, December 15, 2011 (UTC)
I started a draft of Marital Arts in my sandbox. As it is a 9 episode series with distinct episode names and parts of the story in each (vs. a 9 part continuous story), I feel that it would be better to separate the plot summary out per episode as indicated as opposed to one large plot section. What do you think? BrokenSphere (Talk) 22:53, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

PrivacyEdit

How do I change the page titles, or remove a page or pages from the list? You have my real name listed. I would prefer not to be included at all, but at the very least not under my real name.

Hello. I looked for an email but found nothing, so I'm writing here, as this seems to be a way to contact a Ranma 1/2 wiki admin.

I'm worried about a breach of privacy in the wiki and it would mean a lot to me if certain information could be removed. What can I do towards this end?

Thanks,

B.

Simply let me know here what the problem is and we'll se about it getting fixed.Gallicus 06:29, March 29, 2012 (UTC)

This is B. I again, I left a message last night. I would rather not give the details on this public page, as that would increase the problem. Is there a private way I can reach you? Email, or through a private message throught the wikis?

If you create an account (even if you never use it) you are given access to a "toolbox". If you are on my User page the tool box has the link "E-mail this user". Hope this helps.Gallicus 17:30, March 29, 2012 (UTC)
If that is too much hassle, try reaching me personally at gallicusnz at yahoo dot co dot nz.Gallicus 05:08, March 30, 2012 (UTC)

KleppeEdit

Hi, on my page (Gary Kleppe) it lists me as inactive. I'm back. How do I change this?

Also, Megane 6.7's page is incorrectly listed as Frank Casper. His name is Warren Casper. I edited the text on his page but is there some way to rename the page?

I can fix that! give me a moment...Gallicus (talk) 18:53, October 19, 2012 (UTC)

KinaiEdit

I hope that there isn't any problem with the images that I uploaded for the classification box. I found them in google, but if there is going to be any problem I can delete it.Kinai Kai (talk) 23:03, May 17, 2013 (UTC)

About FanArt:

I tried to find the artist, but I am not sure who draw the pics. Kinai Kai (talk) 02:26, May 20, 2013 (UTC)

Done. Thanks for your help and understanding :) Kinai Kai (talk) 02:38, May 20, 2013 (UTC)

About Category:

Could you tell me if there is a 'Dropped' category for fics whose author has confirmed that is not going to continue them? If there isn't a proper category, could I create one? Kinai Kai (talk) 14:46, July 27, 2014 (UTC)

ErikEdit

Hi Gallicus,

I have a question about the "Plot summary" field. I was looking around for a fic that had an example of how they are written, but couldn't find one, to find out how detailed they are, long they are, if they include spoilers, etc. I was planning to add them for my stories, but want to make sure to keep to the correct formatting.

Ryan Erik

MillerEdit

Hi. You've got "Bert Miller" and "H.K. Miller" as separate pages when they are actually the same person.

GaryKleppe (talk) 15:06, June 7, 2013 (UTC)

BellEdit

Hey - Googling myself and found this.  VERY FLATTERED BUT.  Name is considerably different than the header, and I'd like that to get fixed.

Not Donna Bell - only time you hear that around me is when my fella is at my elbow and it's James & Donna Bell at the 'rents place.

Please, full name.  Thanks.  And I'll try to get this updated asap - the fanfiction.net account is defunct, can't be updated and you'd find everything at A03 these days, regardless.

Nice to meet you!

Plot Summary Edit

I intend to flesh out the plot summary for "The Saotome Sisters" once I have more time to go into greater detail. However, I am not sure how to structure a multi-chapter story of the length of my fanfic. (74 chapters and still going) I have been unable to find an example of a plot summary for a fanfic of that length here on the site. I was thinking of dividing my summary into "arcs", listing the chapters included in each, but wanted to know if it is considered more appropriate to break it down by chapter.

Ryleyra (talk) 17:49, June 14, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for causing you problems Edit

On the image I used for "Voice of the Phoenix", my story was an authorized story and was considered 'canon' by the author of the main story. It was written with his close cooperation. The 2 characters portrayed are the 2 characters from the story. I did not realize this was not considered 'okay' and will not do it again.

I guess I see why "5 Lights" is not an alt. It is set after the manga. Whether or not Ranma and the rest of them are reincarnated starlights is immaterial to canon.

Also, as I understand "Poison", it is set before the wedding in Manga volume 38. I guess if one considers it after it is not an alt.

Khammel (talk) 04:50, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

Art Credit Edit

How do I handle a situation where I vectorized/embellished another author's image? In both cases I cite below, I gave myself secondary credit on the website where they were originally posted. One of the most famous images of "Sailor Sun" (It is even used as title image for "Sailor Ranko" in the wiki entry) was originally drawn by Mike Koos. I vectorized it and added the titling and lens flare effects. In the case of "Neo Genus Jusenkyou" the image was only partially (10-20%)  colored by the pen and ink artist (also Mike Koos). I completely colored the characters using vectors and generated the background art.

All of this was of course done with the full cooperation of Mike Koos. Khammel (talk) 05:32, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

Lines of Destiny PrologueEdit

I set up a new page for Lines of Destiny Revised Prologue treating it like the Lines of Destiny Chapter 12 Trailer spamfic. Since Destiny's Intersection explicitly ignores it as canon and The Daughter of Terra treats it as canon, I thought it should be available, but perhaps not on the "Lines" main page.

Khammel (talk) 05:23, June 24, 2013 (UTC)

Crossover Edit

Heya!

I noticed that in the 'Genre' are Anime/Manga included.

Please if possible make a new section 'Crossover' and add there the Anima/Manga. ;)

Hiryo (talk)

DevianEdit

yes, you put a page up on me, and I would like you to take it down, thank you, I only wanted the story up, not me.

You're welcome, Gallicus. -- Billy Catringer (talk) 18:02, October 25, 2013 (UTC)

Need help using FFML for my post, can you tell me how to do it.

Right now I'm trying to post it to Fanfiction.net, but I haven't posted anything yet.

How do I post to FFML?

Dalton.mills.92 (talk) 18:43, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me, now I know why it was not there earlier today. :)

Hello Gallicus, I would like to  contact you in reference to an entry in the Wikia. I used to be a fanfiction author and I am listed in your page. I would like to remove my name from the Wikia, because although I still enjoy Ranma and other anime, it has caused some trouble for me at my work. I leave you my email so as to communicate directly. I'd appreciate it. makane@gmail.com

LadyRelena Edit

Hey thanks for editing my first page. I'm still new at this so it's nice that you helped out. I looked at some of the tried to find out a tutorials about how to start a new page but there are a lot of things i don't know about like, how to make those quote things in the description, or how to make that table on the left that has everything in the wiki page listed.

Also, if it's not a bother, I had a few questions for you.

1) Are newer fanfiction allowed to be posted on here or is this only an archive for old fanfiction past a certain date?

2) Would it be wrong to post fanart from deviantart (or any other site) if it's related to the fanfiction?

For instance, I have fanart that I made years ago for a fanfiction called "Ranma's Second Chance". However, it's never been posted on the authors site and has remained on deviantart. The same goes for many other artists who draw pictures on deviantart and link to the fanfiction in the description.

Anyway, im sorry I didn't write back sooner and thanks agin for helping me. I hope I can figure out how to do all of this soon.:)

questions and answers Edit

Thank you very much :D

Please remove posting/entry. Edit

Hi Gallicus,

I want the entry referencing my Eric J. Gapud in the Ranma 1/2 Wikia removed.  Thanks.  50.153.189.88 23:23, November 22, 2015 (UTC)

FFML archive is back up at: https://www.sanjiyan.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=7

I keep fixing the link to the hand-me-down-ranma story, and you keep breaking it so it shows as the page doesn't exist. Why?

FFMLAlum (talk) 02:58, December 9, 2015 (UTC)

All right, well I can't seem to get the link to stay working, so I will just step out of the way then. Sorry about that, didn't mean to do it wrong :(

FFMLAlum (talk) 03:01, December 9, 2015 (UTC)

Hey Gallicus Edit

I just wanted to mention that I changed the names on the Usagi Hasano author page to just Usagi Hasano because I'm honestly not comfortable with the other name on there. I'd appreciate if it could be changed to Usagi Hasano only?

WordCobblerEdit

PennyPekoro (talk) 03:03, February 7, 2016 (UTC)PennyPekoro

Please remove the author page Sharon Heinbecker and any mentions of this name or WordCobbler. The fiction I originally published many years ago is no longer available online. I did not co-author with anyone and they do not have permission to post as such.

Suggestion: Current Status: Lost Edit

Gallicus,

I'd like to suggest a new addition to the "Current Status" section of the info box.

Lost - These would be for fics that were only ever posted to the FFML or to websites that were not ever archived, and are thus lost to time. Several existing fics on this wiki now fit this status, having been FFML fics. I'd suggest black with white text for the status button.

Ran-san (talk) 01:09, August 18, 2018 (UTC)

SerenityEdit

So I've seen archived snapshots of Richard Lawson's fanfic page, using different crawlers and the different websites he used throughout the years, but I haven't been able to find a reference to the story Serenity that you included in this wiki. It seems that both the Serenity wiki article and the article of his fanfics were written by you.

So how do you know he actually wrote a story called Serenity? I do no see it listed anywhere. There is Serendipity, part of the Thy Outward Part series, but no Serenity

Helzblack (talk) 13:52, July 1, 2019 (UTC)

Can we create new status categories for stories? There are stories where the author themselves have declared them abandoned, incomplete, or want to disavow the existence of. A status for that rather then just the binary complete/incomplete would seem to make sense considering there are many of those. Just a thought.

New CategoryEdit

Tried to create a category and seemed to have failed miserably. If you could delete it or make it work somehow. I guess I don't understand how to do it. Sorry.

Kayofomi (talk) 23:47, September 7, 2019 (UTC)Kayofomi

Hello Gallicus.

I'm trying to remove my real name from the wiki. The handle Firedragon79 and the associated story entry may stay. I scrubbed the pages of the name and removed the redirect from the real name to the handle, but I can't seem to delete the page with the real name myself. If you could delete the page for me, it would be appreciated. Thank you.
