Description[]
“ Ranma finds an odd rune-covered ring.[3] ”
“ Ranma finds an odd rune covered ring and turns it over and over while the usual chaos unfolds around him. It's all getting a bit much when the ring suddenly talks to him and offers him one of 10 wishes. He chooses the one that lets everyone know what it's like to live with a Jusenkyo curse...[4] ”
Plot[]
PLOT NEEDED - This article is missing a plot summary of the events of this story. |
I[5][]
Chaos breaks out at the Tendo Dojo once again, where Ranma Saotome has unwittingly gotten his hands on an enchanted ring. Enraged by the goings-on, Ranma unintentionally evokes the power of the ring and accidentally teleports the entire Tendo family (Soun Tendo, Kasumi Tendo, Nabiki Tendo and Akane Tendo), his parents (Genma Saotome and Nodoka Saotome), the Kuno family (Tatewaki Kuno, Kodachi Kuno, and the principal, plus their servant Sasuke), the Chinese Amazons (Shampoo, Mousse, Cologne), Ukyo Kuonji, Ryoga Hibiki, Happosai, Doctor Tofu Ono, Konatsu and Tsubasa to Jusenkyo. Once the wish is made, he is able to communicate with the spirit inside of the ring, who explains what is going on.
Trying to be helpful, the wishing ring shows Ranma the results of everybody landing at Jusenkyo. Akane falls into the Spring of Drowned Boy. Ukyo falls into the Spring of Drowned Akane. Happosai falls into the Spring of Drowned Pig. Tatewaki Kuno falls into the Spring of Drowned Girl. Kodachi Kuno and Mousse both fall into the Spring of Drowned Duck. Genma and Nodoka both fall into the Spring of Drowned Panda. Soun falls into the Spring of Drowned Child. Cologne falls into the Spring of Drowned Rat. Shampoo falls into the Spring of Drowned Cat. Sasuke falls into the Spring of Drowned Ferret. And Kasumi and Nabiki both fall into two of the feared personality-altering springs. No mention is made in this chapter of what happened to Ryoga, Tofu, Konatsu, Tsubasa or the Principal.
II: I Dream of Kasumi[]
The perspective shifts to the new victims of Jusenkyo, where Cologne explains how Ranma got his hands on the wishing ring that sent them here. Their group has been joined by a dimension-traveler named "Zen", who resembles the character Trunks from the anime Dragon Ball Z.
The group heads to the Chinese Amazon Village, where Cologne, Shampoo and Mousse need to stay for some time. The party is further whittled down in short order; Tsubasa is turned into a porcelain statue when he unwisely hides inside of a magical rubbish bin, while Tatewaki Kuno, Sasuke and Principal Kuno are taken as slaves by the Amazons due to the stupidity of the two Kuno men. Dr. Tofu ends up unwillingly married to a Chinese Amazon. Kodachi decides to try and fly to Japan under her own power as a duck, only to fly off in the wrong direction. It's unclear if Konatsu gets engaged or enslaved.
Readers are told that Ryoga fell into the Spring of Drowned Boy, Kasumi into the Spring of Drowned Hentai, and Nabiki into the Spring of Drowned Drunk.
Perspective shifts back to Ranma, who has been watching the misadventures with some trepidation. He resumes conversing with the wishing ring's spirit, asking it how it can help him and why it wants to be so helpful. He's told that anyone who practices the Anything Goes style inevitably attracts curses, due to all the enemies that Happosai made. Also, Ryoga's directional issues are the result of an ancestral curse that is weakening, but still extremely potent.
The topic changes to Ranma's fiancees, and when Ranma agrees, the ring starts listing the basics and the pros-and-cons of all of them, including several ones that Ranma was unaware existed; Kaori Daikoku, an anime-exclusive fiancee now intent on reclaiming him; Yohko Harenchi, a sadistic bisexual dominatrix; Biiko Daitokuji, the arrogant lesbian mecha genius from Project A-Ko; Mariko Takaoka, heir to the School of Dirty Infighting and bearer of an ancestral grudge against the Tendos, with a personality described as the worst parts of Nabiki and Kodachi; and Kotono Mitsubishi, an esper and mystic with a gentle personality, but who will be determined to exorcise Ranma of his Jusenkyo curse. The ring also reveals that Nabiki and Kasumi have been hiding deep crushes on Ranma, and mentions that a construction worker named Richard Lyron who has routinely worked on the Tendo Dojo's repairs has a girlfriend named Hikaru Sugayubi who may start trying to flirt with Ranma due to being dissatisfied with Richard.
It's at this point that Ranma realizes that each girl that the ring has named has appeared on the television set behind them, and has heard every single word that he and the ring have exchanged as they discussed the girls in question. Trying to escape that little disaster, Ranma goes to ring for some takeout... only to ring the Divine Retribution Office and contact goddess third-class Kitchiri instead.
III: Leave it to 'Biki[]
Ranma nervously recoils from Kitchiri, only for her to explain that she's neither a fiancee nor here to punish him. In fact, she wants to bestow divine retribution on Ryoga Hibiki. Naturally, Ryoga shows up soon afterwards, and is promptly given an official divine curse... namely, reverting him back to having his Spring of Drowned Pig curse. And he's just the first of the returning characters, who are now racing jealously for the ring with intent to use it for themselves.
Nabiki gets there first... but the ring still needs five minutes to finish recharging. Chaos soon ensues, with characters fighting each other for the sake of the ring. Ultimately, Shampoo, Ukyo, and all three Tendo sisters manage to grab the ring and voice the same wish: to be wed to Ranma. The ring booms its approval.
IV: Ryouga's Revenge[]
Ryoga starts laughing, and then reveals that, actually, he was the one who had the ring and made the wish. And what he wished for was that Ranma would be married to the five girls under the laws of the Chinese Amazons. And the ring granted that by applying a set of enchanted wedding rings from the Chinese Amazons to the six of them. Cologne pops up to explain how such polygynous marriages are actually quite common amongst the tribe, and how the rings work to magically enforce a bond by ensuring the wearer of the "husband" ring - or rings, as it transpires the five girls are all wearing that model - experiences the pains and pleasures of the "wife" ring. Something they get a very pointed lesson in when Akane attacks Ranma, only for the impacts to mirror onto them all - naturally, this doesn't endear her to Shampoo or Ukyo, and even her sisters get upset. Shampoo expresses this by hiting Akane over the head... which causes her personality to switch into a Happosai-esque lecherous pervert, who starts chasing Ranma... and then the other girls, when Akane's boy curse gets activated.
Meanwhile, Ryoga purposefully gets himself good and lost, whilst Zen battles Happosai to keep him from the ring.
V: Not the Baka[6][]
Cologne gets sick of the chase scene and intervenes, snapping them all back to normal. She explains a little more about how the rings work. In particular, she mentions that the wearers can't lie to each other, which inspires Akane to finally ask why Ranma hates P-chan so much. To Ranma's surprise, Shampoo interjects, revealing that P-chan and Ryoga are the same person under a Jusenkyo curse. It turns out that all of the other girls also knew, which leaves Akane steaming mad. She hits Ranma, and gets them all smashed with the backlash, which makes her fellow wives angry with her in return.
This proves a problem when several of Shampoo's fellow Chinese Amazons show up. The men who were captured from the teleported group back in the village escaped, and they came to Japan looking for them. Akane takes one look at them, and in a furious rage, decides to attack them. Worse for her, thanks to surprise, she beats one them... just after it starts raining and turns her into her male form. Thus, she declares herself to be Akane's new wife. And Cologne interjects there is a way to "divorce" the wearers of the cursed rings of marriage, so Akane can marry her new wife, Rinse, instead of Ranma. Since neither Ranma nor Ukyo, Shampoo, or Akane's sisters are particularly happy with her, they agree to do just that.
Zen is forced to use his cursed cards to assume a new form after he gets fatally injured. Meanwhile, Zen's fellow dimension travelers resume tracking him down. Also, Kitchiri curses Genma to grow fatter whenever he tells a lie.
VI: All Strange Things...[]
Happosai finally arrives at the Tendo dojo, but is prevented from going for the ring by Zen's fellow dimension traveler Kiyoshi, who shoots and apparently kills him, much to everyone's delight.
A week later, a double wedding is held at the Tendo Dojo. Akane and her new Amazon wife Rinse are wed, whilst Ranma is married to Ukyo, Shampoo, Nabiki and Kasumi. It's mentioned that Dr. Tofu's "wife" caught him again and is determined not to lose him, keeping a jealous eye on Kasumi as she happily ties the knot with Ranma. Zen and his fellow travelers watch with approval, their party swelled by two of the Amazon warriors from the previous chapter - Bui Ling, Ku Ohm, who hope to find strong husbands on other worlds. Once the ceremony is done, the motley group resume their trip across the multiverse, leaving Ranma behind to his new married life.
